Drawing tournament

The comic universe gained space this month at Itaú Cultural with the Quartas ao Cubo project, held on Wednesdays. The series consists of HQ lectures given by cartoonists. Instantly produced drawings help illustrate the concepts. The attraction has gathered around 400 people and is opened until next Wednesday (29), with free admission. On weekends, there is also the Comics Battle, in which eight artists dispute the vote of the public for the best cartoon in two-minute duels. This Sunday (26), at 4pm, the finals will take place - the winners and vices of each battle will earn a prize (several publications by various artists). This is the second edition of the event. The first one happened during the Laerte Occupation, last year, in the same place.

Silicone guinea pigs

The practice of injuring and even sacrificing animals during veterinary medicine classes is being minimized at Anhembi Morumbi University with the help of life-size simulators. Since February, the course has replicas of a cow and a horse, produced with silicone and synthetic fiber. The acquisitions came from the University of Calgary, Canada, to increase the existing collection of small species, used by the faculty since 2005. With the species replica, it is possible to simulate diseases and even problems in childbirth.

> In both replicates, students practice blood collection and drug injection
> An artificial calf can be installed in the womb of the cow to simulate various delivery conditions
> On the horse, it is possible to change the configuration of the digestive organs in order to reproduce gastric diseases
